Indoor air quality (IAQ) can be affected by numerous pollutants, with some being more prevalent than others. Key pollutants include carbon dioxide, particulate matter (PM), formaldehyde, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Particulate Matter: Tiny particles in the air, also known as “dust” (PM2.5 & PM10), can be inhaled into the lungs and cause serious health issues such as respiratory problems, inflammation, and asthma.

Formaldehyde: A common indoor pollutant found in woods, particle boards, and substandard building materials. Increasing ventilation can help reduce its concentration.

Carbon Dioxide: A colourless, odorless gas produced by human respiration. While low levels are harmless, high concentrations can cause headaches, dizziness, and nausea. Proper ventilation in crowded areas or where appliances are used is essential.

VOCs: Emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids, such as cleaning supplies, paints, office equipment, building materials, and vehicles.
